Typically, the first appointment for dental implants will be a consultation to see if you are a good candidate for dental implants. After an oral examination and series of radiographs are performed, the dentists will determine what type of implants and prosthetic (implant crowns, implant dentures, implant bridges) are best for your case. They will also determine if you need a bone graft. 

Once the consultation is complete, you will receive a comprehensive estimate for the phases of treatment. The second appointment is typically the surgical phase, which can include extractions, bone grafting and/or implant placement based on the treatment plan. Dental implants typically take at least 3-6 months to heal. Once the dentist determines that they have healed properly, you are ready for the prosthetic phase, which is the porcelain teeth or acrylic dentures that are screwed into the implants.
